Do you massage my baby?

I provide detailed instructions to parents, grandparents, and caregivers on how to give massage to their infants.  Also before massage instructions begin you will be given information about contraindications, etc.

How do I learn this type of massage:

If you live in Huntsville, Alabama, or the surrounding area, just call Annie at 931-638-6116 or  256-738-0637 and set up an appointment.  Or you can email me at arogle@gmail.com.

How much does Infant Massage Classes cost?

Private session in your home. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$90.00

What happens during the instruction classes?

During this one-on-one time you will learn the history of infant massage, some of the basic benefits of infant massage, a few abbreviated massage strokes if appropriate, and receive relevant handouts that support infant massage.  We will use the massage strokes on the baby, if they are willing.  You will also learn some contrindications for massage.  There will also be some stretching exercises that will be shown to you.

Will I be performing a full-body massage on my baby?

Massaging an infant is very different than an adult receiving a full-body massage.  As we are engaging the baby and asking their permission, they decide how much of a massage they wish to receive.  One time they might only want to have their legs massaged, or their tummy's, never feel pressure to perform a long detailed massage on your infant.

Will oil be used and if so what kind?

Studies conducted at the Touch Research Institute indicate that the use of oil has a better response than not using oil. Natural cold-pressed or organic oils, such as Grapeseed, almond, or sesame seed will nourish your baby's skin and will not hurt baby should they put their hand or foot in their mouth. Do not use mineral oil-based lotions, peanut oil or baby powder.  Natural cornstarch can be used if you prefer not to use oil of any kind.

Tips for massaging your baby.

Baby should be well rested, changed, fed and ready for some special time with parent/caregiver.  Baby should be between one month and three months old, as it is easier to massage baby before they are on the move.

Testimonials:

Annie recently tutored my wife and I on infant massage.  We had no idea what a positive impact it would make on our time with our son. Annie showed us several techniques that we can use to both sooth our son, while providing healthful benefits.  Annie's training has enhanced our familys life.

Annie:  Thank you so much for visiting us in the hospital and loving on our daughter!  We had the best time in our massage instruction class and am in wonder how much she loves her massages.  She slept seven hours the first night after her massage and she loves having her legs, belly and ears rubbed, seems to relax her and gives us great one-on-one time.  Thanks so much!

When Ellie was 5 weeks old Annie came out to teach me Infant Massage.  Ellie is my 3rd child and it was the first time we had tried Infant Massage.  Ellie was feeling a little sick the day Annie came out but was a grateful candidate, none the less!  She did great as we rubbed her little body and discovered what she liked and what she didn't like.  Annie was wonderful, she let me do it on my own and guided me when needed.  Life got incredibly busy, with 3 little ones.  Recently Ellie stopped sleeping through the night.  So one night I made extra time to spend with her, and gave her a long massage-we talked and giggled the entire time, it was so sweet.  Sure enough, that was it!  She slept through the night that night and we have been doing it every night since.  She LOVES her massages and it's a great time for she and I to bond.  I am so thankful that we did it, it has really been worth it.  Ellie is now 4 months old.
